Since the incidence of lung cancer is going up in India, the knowlegde regarding the same is important for patients; right from its nascent stage to end stage. The stages of lung cancer are described in TNM system, where T stands for tumour, N stands for nodes or glands and M stands for metastases holding the meaning that the tumour has spread to other parts of the body. The TNM staging system itself has four stages: Stage 1 Stage 2 Stage 3 (Stage 3A and Stage 3B) Stage 4  At stages 1 and 2, the tumour is confined to the lung where resection can be done including stage 3A.

The further staging of 3B and 4, resection cannot be done. What is your experience and approach in telling patients about their cancerous stage?
