"Interns working in Central Government-run hospitals across India will now get a stipend of Rs 23,500. Earlier, these interns were getting a stipend of Rs 17,500, which has been increased by Rs 6000, as stated by an official at Safdarjung Hospital. The Union Health Ministry has sent a memorandum that confirmed that interns working in Delhi's Lady Hardinge Medical College, Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, Delhi-AIIMS, VMMC –Safdarjung Hospital and North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences will now get Rs 23,500 as stipend from 1st January.

The memorandum has been signed by DVK Rao, Under Secretary, Government of India and a copy of this, has also been sent to the directors of all AIIMS and principals of medical colleges in other states.
