There is a proverb in Tamil “ leaving the robe and fixing the tail”.This is applicable for TB eradication also.Now PM as well as state Health Ministers are talking about the target 2025. Unfortunately they have not disputed WHO guidelines in TB treatment which is wrong is pointed by doctors like us by email to health ministry, but only a High court verdict changed the scenario. By this time lot of deaths and sputum positive case increase with MDR increase occurred in India.
Even the former Director General of ICMR who is supposed to be an expert in TB has done nothing except complaining about lack of research in Tamil Nadu without going through the research by individuals like me in India without any support from organisations like ICMR which requires a lengthy clerical work up of 12 or 13 copies of formats with no proper guidance from ICMR.
