The District Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission in Bhadradri Kothagudem, Telangana, recently examined a case involving alleged medical negligence arising from an incorrect blood transfusion administered to a road accident victim at a private hospital in Bhadrachalam. After considering the medical records and evidence placed on record, the Commission held the hospital guilty of negligence in diagnosis and treatment and directed it to pay Rs 1 lakh as compensation along with Rs 25,000 towards litigation costs.
