In two of my previous articles ( quality of lab reports  and  specialized laboratory medicine ) I had raised the issue of specialized laboratory medicine. A lot many of members of the medical fraternity were in harmonious concurrence with my thoughts. But another issue was raised by many doctors in the context. The laboratory technicians signing the test reports instead of doctors. Indeed it's a problem that could lead to a disastrous impact on health care.

But before going into the solution, let's first give a thought what has actually lead to the situation. In the past decades, the number and variety of diagnostic parameters has increased like anything. The number of specialist doctors in diagnostic branches has not increased in proper proportion with respect to the clinicians.
