Tyrosine kinases (TKIs) are major signaling cascade mediators that, in response to cellular environment stimuli, play significant roles in different biological processes, such as cell development, metabolism by various pathways, differentiation, and apoptosis. They also enable uncontrolled cancer cell proliferation, tumor development, and metastatic disease growth without initiating the neoplastic process directly. TKIs also play a crucial role in the progression of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), which is the major primary liver cancer in adults. However, there is little awareness about the role of TKIs in the pathophysiology and therapeutics of HCC.
