The need of extended medication of venous thromboembolism (VTE) is still uncertain. However, it is believed that extended therapy with low-dose of Aspirin may be useful in preventing VTE reoccurrence. In a recent study, it is observed that rivaroxaban is an even better option for extended VTE treatment.
While there is conclusive evidence that aspirin plays a role in reducing the risk of clinically relevant venous thromboembolism (VTE) arising in several surgical and non-surgical situations at risk, little is known of the potential of rivaroxaban for the long/term prevention of recurrent VTE other than aspirin.
