A Kerala-based leading pediatric care center has taken assistance from a 3D printing company to simplify a complicated surgery for congenital heart disease in a newborn baby. A child was born with a complicated cardiac condition called “criss-cross heart”, a condition where the main valves and chambers of his heart were completely twisted. The heart had a ventricular septal defect, and many other complications existed in his cardiac anatomy as well. His parent went to different hospitals and returned with a negative answer from everywhere.

Doctors were not sure about the success of the surgery. Because it was not so easy to conceive the actual anatomical complication from the scans and images of the heart.
