Tissue regeneration is an emerging concept involving 3-dimensional (3D) tissue reconstruction using stem cells, suitable scaffolds, biomaterials, and the essential bioregulatory signals or growth factors. Tissue regeneration helps understand organ development and functions, the spatio-temporal and physiologic dynamics and is proving instrumental in medical research in tumorigenesis, modeling autoimmune disorders, genetic syndromes, regenerative medicine, translational medicine, and novel drug development.
