IMNCI GUIDELINES says, give Ciprofloxacin in dysentery only, but not in diarrhoea under 5 months age. Some books says to give Ampicillin + Gentamicin Inj which is not that practicable in a village primary health care setting. Some doctors prescribe Colistin instead.
I find using oral route convenient in absence of vomiting. Can oral Colistin be used for diarrhoea under 5 months age?
