Langerhans cell histiocytosis (LCH) is one such disorder which is also known as histiocytosis X. Etoposide is sought to be an effective treatment for LCH.

But following its secondary malignancy and no label expansions as compared to vinblastine (Vbl), the use of etoposide was curtailed in LCH trials. Currently, Patients can afford first-line of therapy for LCH but they can’t afford the toxic chemotherapy and hematopoietic stem cell therapy. Therefore, management strategies like curtailing disease progression and reducing recurrences thereby could improve chances of survival.
