In November 2014 I wrote an article with the same headline. It created a very good discussion, you can referre to that article. I was pretty sure that surgeon can not be wrong in that unfortunate incident. Now it is clear that whole problem was a medicine mixed with rat poison which killed so many women.
All over the country these camps are facing a number of issues, most of them are systemic and management issues. In our country public health issues are not taken seriously by the political leadership and beaurocracy, and experts are sidelined. We are having such camps all over country but we could not create a mechanism to audit it.
