Tubercular otitis media (TOM) is a chronic inflammatory granulomatous condition caused by middle ear infection by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Primary tubercular otitis media is a rare disease and its clinical presentation is variable and non specific. It is usually diagnosed late due to its chronic course, similarity with other common chronic ear pathologies and low degree of suspicion. We present a case of a 16 years old female with a history of painless profuse ear discharge since 1 month, non responsive to local antibiotics with generalised weakness, low grade fever and difficulty in hearing.
The patient had a positive family history of tuberculosis. The histopathological examination of granulation tissue was suggestive of tuberculous otitis media. Key Words: Mycobacterium tuberculosis, otitis media, histopathological, granulation tissue. Explain the above case report?
