The Health Department has intensified malaria surveillance in Chhattisgarh's Kanker district after two pediatric deaths from cerebral malaria and the hospitalization of five additional children during the ongoing monsoon season. District-wide malaria screening, launched on July 24, identified multiple positive cases, prompting expanded surveillance in villages, tribal residential schools, and hostels. According to health officials, children with mild symptoms are being treated at home, while those with severe symptoms are being referred to hospitals.
Authorities also stated that adequate stocks of malaria diagnostic kits and medicines are available to support ongoing screening and treatment activities.
