The US FDA has approved bevacizumab-vikg for the treatment of patients with neovascular age-related macular degeneration (nAMD). Bevacizumab is a vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) inhibitor and the first ophthalmic formulation of bevacizumab approved for the treatment of nAMD.
Clinical evidence In a clinical trial involving 228 patients, 41.7% of patients who received bevacizumab gained ≥15 letters in best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) from baseline to month 11, compared with 23.1% of those treated with ranibizumab.
