Dear colleagues, HbA1c or glycosylated haemoglobin is considered a golden parameter in current clinical practices, to diagnose and also to monitor diabetes. Is there any relation of HbA1c with person's haemoglobin level? What will be the effect of low haemoglobin level on HbA1C reading in an iron-deficient diabetic?

Is there any adjustment calculation to know the approximate HbA1c level in relation to haemoglobin level? For example, what should be +/- to be done to the reading of HbA1c when haemoglobin is 8 or 9 or 10gm%?
