A video has evoked ripples of anger from doctors throughout the nation after a “motivational speaker” called Indian doctors as ‘murderers in white coat’ in the video. IMA has sent a Rs. 50 crore legal notice to the speaker for defamation, stating that the video has caused a loss of reputation to medical professionals.
In the 9.40-minute video titled as 'Indian Medical System Ki Asliyat' (Truth of Indian Medical System), the speaker has referred to doctors as ‘safed coat ke khooni lootere' (murderers in white coats)." Raising the issue of ‘cut practice’ prevalent in India, the speaker condemns the doctors who are earning extra through referral fees, taking commission from pharma companies and misguiding patients for unnecessary surgical procedures. Giving examples of some great Indian doctors who are earning by honesty and ethics, the speaker urges the doctors to “earn ethically”.…
