An 80-year-old woman fell and hurt her left hip. She was normally independent for activities of daily living in her own home. Her regular medication comprised ramipril 10mg, bendroflumethizide 2.5mg and amlodipine 5mg od for hypertension. On examination of the left hip, there was no deformity, but it was painful to move and she was unable to weight bear.
