A healthy married woman in her mid-40s visited the psychiatrist complaining of hallucinatory voices in her head. She heard a distinct voice when she was reading the book at home. ‘Please don’t be afraid,’ ‘I know it must be shocking for you to hear me speaking to you like this, but this is the easiest way I could think of, and we would like to help you.’ The voices urged her to go and have a brain scan as she had a tumor in her brain, and her brain stem was inflamed. Surprisingly, the brain scan revealed a tumor in her head, as predicted by the voices.

Interestingly, there were no physical signs suggestive of an intracranial lesion. The surgeon advised immediate operation to remove the tumor, to which the voices responded with affirmation.
