Recently I went to a private nursing home in  Mumbai to see my friends relative who was admitted with heart failure. I went to ICU to see the patient. The duty doctor said he is an intensivist. I saw the patient. I was just asking where did the doctor do MBBS, he said he has done BAMS and worked in an ICU. I was surprised but kept it to myself. I asked the physician about this.He said the hospital can't afford MBBS doctors round the clock and BAMS and BHMS doctors are being hired for work. I was just wondering.

Except for few minutes in morning round the whole hospital was run by the intensivists. A patient coming off hours if survives would be seen by the specialists next day. What a nice medical system. Nevertheless, the intensivists were managing the patient reasonably well. But they were there only for emergencies as duty doctors. Patients didn't bother about their degrees. Share…
