Recommended composition of seasonal Influenza vaccine for 2017-18 in the northern hemisphere was published by World Health Organization (WHO) on March 2017. The influenza virus has characteristics of evolving continuously so a yearly update of vaccine composition is required for effective protection. The seasonal “flu” is usually caused by type A and B influenza viruses. Common symptoms of flu include sudden onset of fever with a cough, headache, muscle and joint pain. It can also be accompanied by a sore throat and runny nose.
The symptoms could be severe and can last for 2 weeks or more. Although, people recover from a fever and other symptoms within a week without any medical requirement but, it can also cause severe illness or death in high-risk groups.
