Drug development   is the process of bringing a new  pharmaceutical drug to the market once a lead compound has been identified through the process of drug discovery. In Indian scenario, the process of drug development also includes generics, which includes the comparison of the drug product with the innovator physiochemically, of generic drugs which includes the comparison of a drug product with the innovator; whose patent has expired or under some circumstances of perceived national needs, thereby produce a cheaper and equally effective and efficacious drug product. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) gives approval to a drug product; the quality maintenance depends upon the site and in the state of manufacture so as to maintain their quality.
