Case presentation A 24-year-old man was brought to the OPD by his parents with complaints that he suddenly lost interest in his academic work and stopped socializing with his friends. He was speaking less, becoming apathetic, and rarely showing any emotion or engagement with anyone, including his family members with whom he had been reasonably close. Mental state examination Eye contact: Variable He is a polite and reasonably cooperative man. He does not appear anxious or agitated. He seems slightly detached from his parents and does not look at them. Speech: Normal, but he sometimes struggles to answer even basic questions, and his responses are short.
