Hypertension or high blood pressure is a serious condition leading to several health complications and increasing the risk of cardiovascular, brain, and kidney diseases as well as stroke, aneurysm, and even death. Primary hypertension develops gradually over several years, while secondary hypertension tends to appear suddenly because of an underlying condition. According to the first comprehensive global analysis conducted by the Imperial College London and WHO and published in The Lancet in 2021, the number of adults (aged 30–79 years) affected with hypertension has increased to 1.28 billion from 650 million in the last thirty years worldwide.
