Around 2.2 billion people, a quarter of the world’s population, have a visual impairment. Nearly half of this could have been prevented, or could still be avoided. World Sight Day is a day of awareness observed on the second Thursday of the month of October every year to raise awareness about eye health and to recognize the work done by thousands of ophthalmologists across the world to fix vision impairment. It will be observed on the 13 th of October this year.

World Sight Day 2022 aims to raise awareness of blindness and vision impairment as major global public health and development issues and encourages everyone to think about the importance of their own eye health.
