Recently, a study revealed that 1-hour plasma glucose (1HrPG) value is a good predictor of future dysglycaemia in individuals with normal glucose tolerance (NGT). This finding is significant to prevent future dysglycaemia as normal glucose tolerance is the very early stage in type 2 diabetes. Normal glucose tolerance (NGT) is the very earlier stage of type 2 diabetes and several studies have reported that 1HrPG value as a good predictor of progression during an oral glucose tolerance test (OGTT).
This study analyzed three glycemic parameters- FPG, 1HrPG and 2HrPG separately and in various combinations and tried to identify which of these parameters can best predict future risk for developing dysglycaemia.
