Previously healthy 11 - year-old boy, presented to the EMS with a 2-hr history of abdominal pain & fever (103°F). He was well when he got up in the morning, developed fever at school & was sent home. Later, he had several episodes of diarrhea & non-bloody, non-bilious emesis.

No significant past history, No family history, No contact history, No travel history, No developmental delays & his vaccinations were up to date. On examination, temperature was 103°F, Heart rate 151 beats/minute, Respiratory rate 22 breaths / minute, O 2 saturation 98% in room air, conscious, alert, no acute distress, pupils were reactive, clear conjunctiva & neck was supple with no evidence of meningismus.
