Her glycated haemoglobin (HbA1c) was 6.1 percent (normal range 4–5.9 percent) a month ago, indicating an average blood glucose level of 7.0 mmol/L over the past three months. She has been suffering from a sore throat and influenza-like symptoms over the preceding days. Her parents say that the frequency of insulin intake had decreased as she had been eating and drinking less. Examination Her mucous membranes are dry.
