Lung cancer is the 7th most commonly diagnosed cancer across GCC, including the UAE. In this regard, health care professionals at the 2nd Multidisciplinary Lung Cancer Forum addressed the different methods to prevent lung cancer in this region. In GCC, around 60-80% of patients diagnosed with lung cancer are found to be at an advanced stage, with survival rates as low as 10-20% within five years.
Moreover, 90% of these patients have metastasized lung cancer by the time they are detected. The Lung Cancer Forum has therefore advised to increase the regular screening of individuals at high risk to ensure early detection and improve the survival rates.
