The state government which is facing shortage of over 30 per cent staff in the existing Ahmedabad and Vadodara Medical College has decided to set up colleges in Palanpur, Nadiad, Amreli, Godhra and Vyara. The government in the reply to question of Amreli MLA Paresh Dhanani has said that government has decided to set up five new colleges and the approval from the central government is awaited. The Government in the reply to the question of Viramgam MLA Tejashree Patel has said that of the 853 sanctioned posts, there were 255 posts which were vacant, which was nearly 30 per cent in the college.

Similarly in Vadodara Medical colleges there were 34 per cent posts vacant. According to the government of the 255 post vacant in BJ Medical over 50 per cent were vacant for less than one month, while 75 post were vacant for two years and other 53 were vacant for over two years. It is worth…
