Case presentation A 28-year-old woman presented to the Urology out-patient department with complaints of irritative lower urinary tract symptoms, characterized by a frequent urge to urinate, for the past one month. Medical history The patient had a copper intrauterine device (IUD) (TCu 380A) placed 18 months earlier as a contraceptive measure. There was a history of intermittent and terminal hematuria associated with clots but no necroturia one year before the presentation. Physical examination Physical examination revealed tenderness in the hypogastric region and moderate inflammation of the urethral meatus.
