A “do-not-resuscitate” (DNR) order given in a patient’s medical record by a doctor informs the medical staff not to attempt cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Due to the avoidance of a life-saving CPR attempt, other resuscitative measures that follow in terms of respiration and the respiratory tool's insertion will also be avoided.
