Case presentation A 21-year-old female presented with non-healing wounds on her left foot for the past 2 weeks. She had a history of spontaneously developing corns near the fifth toe and big toe of the left foot for the past 2 years. Two weeks before presentation, she applied a corn cap for cosmetic reasons, following which she developed swelling, discoloration, and pus collection underneath the skin.

She subsequently visited an outpatient clinic and was prescribed 2% fusidic acid cream as a topical antibiotic, but her condition did not improve. She then presented to the general medical ward.
