Every day, more than 500 new cases of brain tumor, both benign and malignant, are diagnosed worldwide. Apart from primary tumors, a considerable number of tumors metastasize to the brain. Astrocytoma, meningioma, and oligodendroglioma are the most common types of primary brain tumors among adults. In children, medulloblastoma, grade I or II astrocytomas, ependymoma, and brain stem glioma are extremely common.
