A baby girl aged 2 years 6 months, brought to the clinic and the mother told that the child had dry cough for about a month. The doctor whom she visited started the baby on ATT without a CXR and Mantoux. The mother discontinued the ATT after a month without consulting the doctor.
Now the repeated Mantoux was negative and the cough is stopped. The baby has iron deficiency, anemia and iron supplement is given. Is it advisable to start ATT without a positive family contact,history, Mantoux and CXR?
