Doctors at a hospital in Belagavi, Karnataka, have successfully performed an advanced surgery using an artificial intelligence (AI) tool to save the life of a 33-year-old man. This marks the first such surgery conducted in North Karnataka. The patient was diagnosed with deep vein thrombosis, which led to blood clots forming in the veins of his leg. These clots eventually migrated to his lungs, causing severe shortness of breath, coughing, and low blood pressure .
Upon his arrival at the hospital, a team of doctors, including interventional cardiologists, decided to perform an AI-enabled pulmonary mechanical thrombectomy.
