While rummaging through a wide array of literature on Google and trying to fit in bits and pieces of information which have come partially from the expertise and partially from experience as a clinical pathologist I came across this publication from IMMUNOLOGY( click here ) a journal published by the British Society of Immunology way back in 1991. This proposed model answers the various aspects of HIV infection and in a way challenges the contemporary theories is a must read for all interested clinicians, pathologists, transfusion medicine specialists, and microbiologist.

Some of the salient points raised include: There is a high degree of molecular mimicry between MHC molecules(especially MHC class II)on the cell surface and the various glycoprotein molecules implicated in HIV such as gp 120 and gp41.
