Efforts of AIIMS and a Delhi based organization has made quality health services assessable to the people by providing its services in a local hospital almost 200km from Leh. India's constitution guarantees its citizens the right for the attainment of highest attainable quality of healthcare standards. This at times is not accessible owing to geographical barriers, therefore such barriers are being overcome by healthcare aids from one of the premier institutes of the country i.e. AIIMS.

Around 24 doctors from different specialties have visited the camp organized in Leh this year. More than 2,700 patients have benefited from this outreach initiative. Treating such a large number of patients may not be possible at times and cases that remain pending are forwarded in an emergency basis to AIIMS New Delhi.
