The Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court has imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 each on three doctors in separate cases for their bad handwriting while writing the medico-legal reports in criminal cases. The injury reports of the victims issued by hospitals were not readable because of the poor handwriting of the doctors who had issued them. The Judges have extreme difficulties in reading this medical report. So judgement was being hampered.
Because of poor handwriting, it reprimanded and penalized the Doctors who had authored them. Judges considered poor handwriting an 'obstruction to court work' and summoned 3 doctors of Gonda, UP and imposed a fine of Rs. 5000/- each on them.
