Necessary points to remember during anesthesia for day care bariatric surgery: After admission, we keep the patient on exclusive liquid (water 3 liters and lime juice with salt 1 liter per 24hours) for 3-5 days depending on body weight. During this time, patients do spirometry, simple exercises, undergo evaluations etc. This starvation improves the function of the diaphragm, shrinks liver and intestines, giving more space for the surgeon, improves cardiopulmonary reserve, gives us time to observe patient closely, etc. On the day of surgery, amlodipine 5mg and atenolol 50 mg tablet will be given 1 hour before surgery, for hemodynamic stability.
