50 years old man has h/o Grand mal epilepsy since last 20 years. He is also k/c/o diabetes (type 2). Before coming to me he is receiving tab. DILANTIN (PHENYTOIN) 300 mg daily since his diagnosis.

He is also taking Metformin plus Glimepiride. My question is this : As phenytoin has adverse effect of hyperglycemia; so can we continue phenytoin in such patients ? If not what is suitable drug for seizure disorder in diabetic pt ? since last 2 years there is no history of seizures.
