The International Atomic Energy Agency has launched a new coordinated research project (CRP) which aimed to unite nuclear forensic scientists from different States together to improve the implementation of nuclear forensics in the setting of national laws, and to support investigative needs. The new CRP suggested that it will benefit in producing enhanced methods to document and collect evidence, rapid identification of nuclear and other radioactive material that poses a nuclear security threat and to process traditional forensic evidence contaminated with radionuclides. Furthermore, CRP aims to promote the consistent and scientifically defensible implementation of nuclear forensic examination with national laws and international legal instrument.
