The research has been conducted at the Stanford University in the US shows low-cost imaging technique that can diagnose live tuberculosis bacteria in an hour. It can also help to monitor the efficacy of treatments in TB. The imaging technique uses run of the mill fluorescence microscope that is available in all hospital and no special training required.
The success rate of this treatment in drug-susceptible TB is 85% and for multidrug-resistance, TB is 54%. The study published in the journal Science Translational Medicine.
