Today I see Apple's/Samsung's Smartwatches even in the wrist of many doctors & for patients it has become an obsession & a style statement. So whats wrong with this behavior? The thing is that by giving over importance to fitness bands, many a times a patient is not tracking what is required but tracking steps & heart rate not knowing he/she is having grade 3 fatty liver, non detected high HbA1c, may be Exercise induced ischemia plus continuous eating junks.

There are evidences from reputed bodies like JAMA in this matter that they are not as useful as we think. Now coming to sleep tracking it detects sleep when there is inactivity in resting mode but one can remain continuously awake without sleeping in normal cases/insomnia/Bipolar/schizophrenia etc & in deep sleep also there can be sleep jerks/some movements.
