Doctors from the Army Institute of Cardiothoracic Sciences (AICTS) have successfully treated four patients suffering from an extremely rare and life-threatening condition known as coronary stent infection, with fewer than 50 cases reported worldwide. The patients, who had initially undergone angioplasty procedures at various civil and private hospitals, were later referred to AICTS for advanced care. All four cases were managed successfully, marking a significant achievement in the treatment of a condition associated with high mortality and limited clinical understanding.

Each case at AICTS posed unique surgical challenges and required careful planning and coordination over a period between December 2024 and January.
