The Mysuru unit of Indian Medical Association (IMA) is conducting a weeklong awareness programme on nursing mother at different places across the city from Saturday 1st August 2015. Dr. D. Narayanappa, JSS Medical College, said that awareness will be created on breastfeeding at private and government hospitals. According to the World Health Organization, this year's theme is "Breastfeeding and Work Lets Make it Work", he said.
"We will also be a submitting memorandum to chief minister Siddaramaiah and deputy commissioner C Shikha, requesting them to provide better facilities including place for breastfeeding for women at workplaces and implement constitutional rights under Article 42 to take maternity leave of six months," he said. The event was inaugurated at Cheluvamba Hospital at 11 am. Mysore Medical College and Research Institute dean Dr Krishnamurthy were the chief guest. …
