Airway strictures and stenosis are caused by tuberculosis, cancer, and other inflammatory conditions. Bronchoscopy examination and/or CT scan of the chest can be helpful in the diagnosis of these conditions. Balloon bronchoplasty, a bronchoscopic technique of dilating airway strictures with balloon catheters, can be done as a daycare procedure or under general anesthesia, depending on the severity of airway stenosis.
