Suppose a patient with history of 2/3 days of fever comes to me & gets diagnosed on the basis of clinical exam & Laboratory tests to be suffering from uncomplicated falciparum Malaria.What to do? 1.Give oral medicines as per National Malaria Treatment guidelines & adjuvants & ask patient to come after 48 hrs & ask him not to worry till then.
2.Give oral drugs & ask him to come back as soon as condition detiorates.Why I am asking this because I heard malaria can produce serious symptoms like unconsciousness even within few hours that to even when treatment started.This seems to be particualrly important in children.
