Now organ transplantation has become a much sought after technique. Transplantation from live but dying donors may have many questionable policy decisions. In this context, brain death certification is being resorted for obtaining organs from brain dead individuals. I am of the opinion that brain death certification should not be a means to find donors for the collection of organs for transplantation. Rather it is unethical to seek brain death certification for the sake of getting organs for transplant. The one and the only reason for brain death certification should be the interest of the patient.

Collecting organs from willing donors has no issues. But a patient who is dying and who has not given his consent cannot be taken for granted. Even the patient's relatives have no say in such situations. Vested interest should not be allowed to play any role in organ transplants. The interest…
