Coloboma is a congenital defect within the structure of either eyelid or the eye. Coloboma can be inherited or can occur spontaneously coloboma of any eye structure can occur in isolation or with chromosomal abnormality. We can have coloboma of lib iris retina and optic disc and choroid. Colobomatous cys it is an incomplete embryonic closure producing a cyst outside the eye attached to a small eye.
Optic nerve pit may be related to coloboma. A small defect near the margin of optic nerve fluid can sometimes collect in the retina outside the defect which may cause reduced vision. Share your views.
